MAloha mai kākou!
My name is Ulupuhi Pale and I am running to be your ASUH Vice President.
Raised on Oʻahu with family roots in the Hawaiian Islands of Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, and Kauaʻi and American Samoa and Puerto Rico, my work is grounded in islander values and a deep commitment to community.
I've been actively involved in campus and grassroots advocacy, from organizing events like the Ola i ka Wai Panel to being an active member in Le Fealofani O Sāmoa. Outside of school, Iʻve been involved with grassroots community-based organizations like Ka Lāhui since birth.
As an ASUH Senator, I've have led and supported initiatives focused on student safety, environmental justice, and Pacific Islander rights, including efforts to establish the Campus Center as an emergency safe zone, advocate for Red Hill accountability, and create educational spaces around Native Hawaiian issues.
Guided by kuleana, mālama, and aloha, I am committed to uplifting student voices, strengthening accountability, and ensuring a safe, supportive campus for all.
Hello! My name is Hachi Takatsuka, and I’m a junior with a triple major in English, Psychology, and Political Science in the College of Arts Languages and Letters and the College of Social Sciences. I’m running for secretary this year because I believe that our university should be a safe haven for students of all backgrounds. It has a responsibility to protect its students in any way it is able to; I want to keep our university accountable for doing so. I hope to serve our community through the student government, and I will work to keep the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa a safe place for women, LGBTQ+ students, and international students.
Aloha mai kākou! My name is Shaina Laguatan, a third-year Political Science and American Studies student from Kapolei. During my free time, I enjoy graphic design, cooking, and dance. I am running to be your next ASUH Vice President and Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences!
My campaign centers on strengthening student outreach, representation, and advocacy to drive meaningful change and foster an inclusive, well-supported campus. As a current ASUH Senator, Hawaiʻi State Senate Intern, Orientation Leader, and Peer Mentor, I’ve worked alongside diverse students through peer mentorship, campus resources, and navigating the legislative process to transform ideas into effective solutions. Since we all face different challenges—academically, financially, and emotionally—active listening and transparency is key to ensure your concerns are heard and acted on. I will continue to engage with students, gather feedback, and amplify your voices in ASUH for a greater sense of belonging and success at UH Mānoa! Let’s lead Mānoa together!
